Telechips will relocate its office building to the 2nd Pangyo Techno Valley on the 18th. About 350 employees will move into a 12-story building with five basement floors. Telechips acquired the site of the new Pangyo building in 2018. It invested 43.5 billion won in 2020 to start construction of its new headquarters and R&D center for system semiconductors.
Telechips, a fabless automotive semiconductor company, recorded sales of 38.994 billion won and operating profit of 4.055 billion won in the third quarter. Operating profit increased 188.4% compared to last quarter. Telechips sold its stake in its subsidiary Chips & Media this year, laying the foundation for expanding its automotive semiconductor business.
It is also promoting cooperation by attracting investment in LX Semicon. LX Semicon, South Korea's largest fabless company, is mainly focused on display driving chips (DDI). It is possible to expand contact points with telechips in the field of vehicle infotainment.
Telechips will strengthen its R&D capabilities with the relocation of its office building. Telechips is considering establishing a second R&D base in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. The move is aimed at accommodating talented people with master's and doctorate degrees in the Gyeongsang region, away from the manpower structure concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area. As of the second quarter, the proportion of R&D expenses to Telechips sales was 47.4%. The size of recruitment will also continue to expand.
