Semiconductor industry/society "calls for early passage of the Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Act"
The semiconductor industry and related academic societies urged that the Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Act should be passed as soon as possible. The Semiconductor Strengthening Act was proposed by the People's Power Semiconductor Industry Economic Strengthening Committee on the 4th and aims to expand tax support for the semiconductor industry and support manpower supply and demand.
On the 26th, the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, the Korea Electronics Engineering Association, the Korea Semiconductor Display Technology Association, and the Semiconductor Engineering Association jointly announced the position of the semiconductor industry and academia on the early passage of the Semiconductor Competitiveness Enhancement Act. The four organizations said, "Our semiconductor industry and academia have expected to pass the semiconductor industry competitiveness bill as soon as possible, but we have not made much progress in the National Assembly yet. As the semiconductor industry requires a lot of capital and manpower, we strongly urge the bill to be passed as soon as possible.
"The semiconductor industry support law to increase domestic semiconductor production in the U.S. is intensifying the war on semiconductor supremacy among countries," he said. "Expanding support for strategic industrial complexes, expanding manpower supply, and tax support will help Korea take the lead in semiconductor and overcome the crisis."
On the same day, the Korea Fabless Industry Association also requested the passage of the bill and the nationwide support of the system semiconductor industry. The Fabless Industry Association is a recently launched organization formed by 105 semiconductor fabless companies. The Fabless Industry Association said, "Fabless industry, which will be the foundation of the fourth industry, is a high value-added industry in the future, and intensive support such as training manpower, expanding fabless-led R&D support projects, stabilizing supply chains, and revitalizing M&A should be passed."
